So hot it's not funny

To start with let me say I woke up as tired as when I finally got to sleep at 1am this morning.
Last night and the past 2 nights have been 24-25C and the days have been 38-39C.
Doesn't feel very nice waking up in a lather of sweat and knowing its only going to get worse as the day goes on.got to 42c today with not an ounce of breeze.
I must say we are lucky so far that we haven't had any fires around Gunnedah yet, further south in the Hunter Valley, Sydney The South coast of NSW and Victoria are copping it bad with fires.
In Victoria 30 homes were lost in 1 small town. In the Singleton area(where we lived before moving here) over 1,000 hectres of bushland has burned so far and they are thinking the fire might head toward town.,
Dad lives in the Hunter Valley in the wine growing area,I was getting a bit concerned about fires as they usually get a lot of fires every year, so rang him and no fires so far.

Been to Dad's

Well I finally got to go to dad's this Thursday.
Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, might be all the love and support I get from home and my cyber family at Artecy_stitchers group.
Went and paid for Mum's funeral and then went into town with dad, I even got him to buy a new pair of sunglasses as he needs to wear them all the time when he is outside now, since he had his surgeries on both eyes. He has been talking about getting a new entertainment unit for his lounge room as the TV he has now is too big for his old unit, went to a store in town and he got a really nice one for 300.00. Wish I had known about them when I got my new one, LOL practically the same as mine and I paid 1,400.00.
The weather here has been unbearable, just on 3 weeks now of 35-40c in the day and nights of 23-25c. Needless to say it is too hot to get a good night sleep, even the aircons are labouring to work properly. Mal has gone to da a course for work this week and as he will be doing it only 1/2 hour drive from dad's he is staying at dad's place. Mal will help dad to put together his entertainment unit .
Kori is busy writing a novel(her first attempt) and it is coming along. She has only got 6 more assignments left to do for her school certificate which she is doing through distance learning via tafe in Sydney.

Time I posted

I have been naughty and not posted for a while.

I had been feeling a bit down the past week or so, a MUM moment . Wasn't looking forward to going to my Dad's last Thursday, to help him with going to pay for mum's funeral, but as it turned out I didn't get there last week.
On Tuesday afternoon my left eye felt like I had something in it. Thought it would be ok by the Wednesday morning but when I woke up my eye was aching and really sore, by the time Mal got home from work I could hardly stand the pain and I have a high pain threshold I think. I went to the ER at the hospital as it id a waste of time trying to get into a Doctors here, sat for 4 hours waiting to see the doctor. Finally say one and found out I have 2 ulcers on my eyeball, very painfull, LOl think I would rather be in labour than have the pain I had with my eye.

Today my eye seems to be just about healed, very little pain and only hurts when I put in the eye cream meant to heal my eye, its working so I can put up with it.

I have been stubborn and still stitching even if it is very little a day. I have gotten a bit of Opus 1 done and started my frog as well as a one colour design by Marc Davis from needlemania called A Bouquet for Cheryl.
I will work out how it put pics here in post soon and post pics here.

To all my cross stitch sisters I am sorry I have not been around much last week but I will be back on Tuesday, tomorrow is a holiday here so we are going to do something as a family, not sure what yet LOL.

Friday

Today was a busy day.
No stitching done though, will get some done tonight.
Finished our final interviews today for Fostering. So won't be too long before we have little ones in our home again.
Spent 4 hours with the interviews.

Went to start my Sistine Chapel last night and found my piece of fabric I had put aside for it had been cut so will have to get new piece of fabric.
Still working on Opus 1 and like most projects it is feeling like it will never end.

Mal is still on holidays, goes back to work on Monday. He has done a lot of reading the past week. About time he relaxed for a bit LOL.

Think thats it for today.

Carol.

monday

Very hot here again today.
Kori and I went to the gym, thankfully it is airconned, felt how hot it was when we walked out of the gym tho.

Going to stitch more on Opus 1 today. I have promise myself that I will get one finished before moving on to the next one that I have started and complete that one.
Now this will take me a long time to finish all the ones I have started but I think I need to accomplish a complete and not just start new ones when I see them.
I have found 2 really cool SAL's for samplers and I am going to do them, one is called Carnation Sampler and I an going to do mine yellow and green not the pink and green they use, and the other one is(lol I forget the name of it right now) but it is a different kind of sampler and I an curious how it will turn out.
Think thats it for today.

sunday

Not much to blog about today.
So hot and humid, the air is so thick it makes it really uncomfortable.

I did get a lot of stitching done on my Opus 1, about 3/4 finished.
Will work out how to put in albums of my work and post some updates.
Going to be as hot tomorrow so I am guessing another day in aircon stitching.

Christmas for me

Well we didn't really have a Christmas this year as my Mum passed away on Christmas Eve.
Her name was ELVA MAY and she was the most amazing mum.
18 years ago Elva suffered a brain haemorrhage which left her with a form of dementia, so you could say we lost her twice, that day and on the 24th of December.
She lived at home with my amazing Dad for 8 long years till my Dad became sick( he is ok now) and had to be placed in care .The hardest thing we have ever had to do, but all the staff at Calvary nursing home are wonderful and Elva lived another 10 years there loving the staff and being loved by them as well as us loving her.

2 weeks before she passed she seemed to lose interest in anything and spent a lot of her time in bed ( it is thought she had just had enough and gave up).

We went to get Dad and bring him up there to Gunnedah for Christmas, went to visit mum and I know she didn't have long from all my years of nursing and seeing others look like she did, but we had so much trust in the staff we brought Dad here anyway. That was on the Sunday.

On the Tuesday morning we got a phone call from Calvary saying mum's health was very poor, so off we rushed 3 hours back to her.
My Daughter Kori and I sat with her all Tuesday night getting very little sleep, but wouldn't have had it any other way.
On the Wednesday morning we went back to dad's , picked him up and went back to Calvary. At 9.30 I decided dad was doing it hard, there was nothing more we could do for her. Having confidence in the staff and it being Christmas I decided to take us back home to Gunnedah to be with Mal and other family was coming here on Boxing day also.
We said our last goodbye to Elva( OH what a hard thing that was to do) Kori and I cried for seems like ever.
At 11.30am we were not too far from home when my mobile phone rang, and it was Maree from Calvary to let me know that Elva had just passed on.

Christmas went in a blurr for us all and on Boxing Day our son ricky, DIL Angela, my twin sister Narelle and niece Raquel (from Tasmania) arrived at our house. Presents were exchanged with not a lot of excitement.

That was what my Christmas was .

I hope you all had a very happy Christmas.
